Brad Tatum

As a nationally recognized baroque and classical natural hornist, Dr. Bradley Tatum has performed with many of the nation's leading ensembles in period performance.  He holds the positions of Principal Natural Horn with the Washington Bach Consort, Bach Society of Minnesota, and The Thirteen Choir and Orchestra.  Reviewers from the Washington Post have praised his "beautiful pure sound on the natural horn" and the Washington Classical review loved his "outstanding natural horn solo in Quoniam tu solus sanctus" in Bach's B Minor Mass. In the 2024-25 season, he looks forward to performing Telemann's Horn Concerto as a soloist with the Washington Bach Consort, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the Handel Choir of Baltimore, and the rare Corno da Tirarsi in Minnesota and Indiana.

When performing on the modern french horn, Brad is Co-Principal horn of the Apollo Orchestra, 2nd horn with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and hornist for the Birdwood Brass Trio.  In the summer, he has performed with the Staunton Music Festival, Shippensburg Music Festival, and the Endless Mountain Music Festival. He holds degrees in horn performance from the University of Maryland(D.M.A.) and the Lynn Conservatory of Music(M.M.).

Dr. Tatum also teaches band and orchestra at Elizabeth Seton High School and is the director and founder of the DC Horn Choir Camp and Seton Summer band program. Outside of school, he maintains one of the largest private horn studios in the DC/MD area. These students have received top honors in County and State Solo Festivals, All-County and All-State Band, the Interlochen Fine Arts Camp, various youth orchestras, and also included a finalist in the Navy Band’s Young Artist Concerto Competition. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Shenandoah Conservatory.
