Caroline Olsen

Caroline Olsen, mezzo-soprano, has sung with professional ensembles along the East Coast, singing chamber, choral, and solo music. In 2017, she was a featured soloist in Handel’s Israel in Egypt with Musica Sacra in Gloucester, MA. In the 2015-2016 season, she appeared as a soloist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Harvard Pro Musica in Harvard, MA. Caroline is a staff singer in the Advent Choir at the Church of the Advent in Beacon Hill. She has performed in critically acclaimed concerts with chamber music ensembles including the Handel and Haydn Society, Cappella Clausura, and Schola Cantorum of Boston. In Germany, Caroline has sung under the batons of Helmuth Rilling, Hans-Christoph Rademann, and Kathy Salzman Romey. Caroline is also a founding member of Genesis Chamber Singers, based in the South Shore of Boston.

 Born and raised in California, Caroline got her start singing at church and in the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. During her time at Boston University, she sang early music, chamber choral music, and symphonic works with conductors including Anne Howard Jones, David Hoose, and Scott Allen Jarrett. Among her solo singing and chamber music experience, Caroline has collaborated with composer Salvatore Sciarrino on his 12 Madrigali and premiered Thomas Weaver’s song cycle, In the Seven Woods. Caroline holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance and Music Education from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts
