John Stevenson

John Stevenson is a graduate of Indiana University with degrees in music and radio/television. He was a member of the internationally acclaimed Singing Hoosiers and toured with the USO to the Caribbean, Europe and North Atlantic. He was also a soloist at the inauguration of President Lyndon B. Johnson. From 1968 to 1971, John was the master of ceremonies for The United States Army Band and Chorus and sang with the chorus. As vice president of Parkway Communications, John hosted a nationally syndicated classical music radio program called Matinee. Beginning in 1986, he moved on to the Voice of America where he helped start VOA Europe and later served for 24 years as director of VOA’s Worldwide English Division. John has also appeared extensively in musical theatre directing and performing leading roles in Camelot, 1776, South Pacific, I Do, I Do, Oklahoma and many others. He was Director of Music at Colesville Presbyterian Church form 1981 to 2011. John’s wife Kate is a singer/actor and creator of an inspirational program called Women: Back to the Future. They have two children, Juliana, a social worker in New York City and Owen, a singer/songwriter in Chicago and a beautiful new granddaughter, Ruby.
